A story..

It was a fine morning of autumn season. Autumn is the season of festivals in Nepal. And People were welcoming Dashain-the greatest festival celebrated by Nepalese. Children were playing kites. Some were busy in playing swings and the sound of chachahuu... from the swing was making whole environment melodious. People in every house were celebriting the festival with great joy and happiness with relatives and family members.

Rita's mother loud sound of screaming somehow disturbed the charming environment. And they heard the noise uff! again a daughter is born!. Suddenly the crying sound of whole family of Rita disturbed the peace of whole village. Rita's mom passed while giving birth to her fifth's daughter...

Rita was the first daughter of family and Sita, Gita and Ramita were second, third and fourth daughter of Bhunte and Bhunti of a remote but beautiful village of Nepal. They were hoping for son but maybe they were unlucky everytime a beautiful daughter used to born in their family. This time also a beautiful and cute little baby girl was born in their family which they weren't expecting for. And the saddest part was Bhunti met her untimely death while giving birth to their fifth daughter.

Bhunte was in shock he lost her beloved wife in the expectation of a son. He was crying looking at her dead wife. Rita was crying and feeling sad about the Nepalese culture of giving more preference to sons. Gita who was cooking khole(food prepared with flour and water) for her mother was screaming and threw away what she was preparing. Sita who was looking after a cow left the cowshade and ran to hug her dead mother and Ramita who was waiting her turn to play swing came back home crying. The whole family was in pain. The villagers came and took her body to river where they used to born dead bodies. Every house of village was enjoying Dashain except Bhunte's family.

Poor people can't remain in shock and remember those who left for long time  without doing any work because there was nothing left to eat in house. So Bhunte again started to work as a labour. Rita who was very good at studying got scholarship for her study. She used to go school during day and do all household works including caring her sisters and looking after cattles in the morning and evening. They passed their life so hardly. There used to be  many nights when they used to sleep without any food. They didn't used to get chance to buy new clothes. Bhunte whose slippers were turn a year ago is dreaming to buy food enough to feed his family buying slippers was like beyond his capacity. They went through many hardships of life. His daughters never wanted new clothes or any toys all they want was their stomach full food.

Slowly Bhunte started getting well paid and Rita started teaching tuition to young kids and finally became a teacher. Gita was physically so strong since childhood and she was luckily selected in Nepal Police. Sita started doing animal husbandry and Ramita and their little sister were still studying.

Today its been eight years Bhunti had passed away. They all are missing their mother a lot. The only happiest thing was they now can get enough food. Wear anything they want. Bhunte's bare foot had got a pair of slippers. Although they are economically better today but their desire is get back their mother which was impossible....

This story was written by me when I used to study in grade three.
